Join Fine Art Photographer & Photomatix HDR Specialist, Cheyenne L Rouse for a full day of learning how to apply HDR (High Dynamic Range) to your photos. With this creative tool, Cheyenne has taken her digital fine art photographer to new heights and will show you how to do the same. Cheyenne will show you the basics and proper techniques for shooting photos for HDR and how she processes them in Photomatix HDR software. She will start the day off by sharing her story of how the HDR process “inspired” her back into the photo business after a 6 year “semi-retirement” from a very successful 17 year stock photography career that began in 1989. In 2002 Cheyenne hung up her camera to pursue other interests then in 2008 she discovered HDR and it changed everything for her and brought her back into a business that she thought she was all but done with. You can read all about her amazing and inspiring story in the June 2011 issue of Outdoor Photographer Magazine. Her love of HDR even allowed her to open and run her own Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona for several years.
After our morning discussion we will head out to shoot for a while then regroup so students can process their photos that we just shot with Cheyenne’s help and instruction. We will share and discuss the photos from the day then have a question and answer period to end the day.
Students will need their laptop computers for this class with Photomatix Pro HDR software loaded onto it. There is an unlimited free trial version of the program available but it does leave a few distracting watermarks on the processed photo. You can download and purchase the program from the HDRsoft website. Using coupon code “AncientLightPhotos” will give you a 15% discount if you are purchasing the full version of the HDR software. You are welcome to use other HDR software programs but the instruction in this class will center only on Photomatix. Cheyenne also uses Lightroom to refine her images and will touch on that in the class as well. This class is for beginning to advanced HDR enthusiasts. Please have a good working knowledge of your camera gear and how to use the “AEB” or Auto Exposure Bracketing feature for proper HDR shooting techniques. A sturdy tripod is also required.
